    Loooooong Weekend

So my travels continue. Only i realized now that pretty much every weekend i have either a rehearsal-infused schedule in Detroit or a show somewhere since May, that I am always sitting! Its a frustrating thing to be seated in the confines of the belted flying cage for 6 hours... then to sit and sing for a Bharata Natyam rehearsal for hours and hours... only to get back on a plane.... ugh!

Ok... now that my moaning is complete, let me tell you what is wonderful. This past long weekend, I spent no more than 5 hours each day sleeping, and the awake hours were dedicated to the ancient art, as it passed from elders into the hands of the young. It was amazing observing it and allowing myself to enjoy the information migration. At this same time, I was reading a sci-fi novel called Calculating God, about two alien species who meet a Toronto-based palentologist as they all search for meaning in the intelligent design across the universe. The novel only served to enhance my concentration on the delicate wave-format flow of information... between musicians, between the delicate mathematically designed choreography and the body's movements and shapes, between the brain and its house... the human body, and of course between the past and the future.

It was a short weekend, if we wear the lens of "The Big Picture" and the strangeness of understanding the 64-beat architecture of the Thillana dance (composed by G), the 64-bit architecture which I was deep diving on in Wiki and the 64 space design of DNA... well, i was swimming in the quantum consciousness pool of concentrism, if you will.

I doubt I will get over all that fun and all that awareness quickly. I just hope my mind continues to connect the dots and theorize about who we really are and why we are really here.  Happy short week, readers... enjoy the photos from my littlest sis.

Why my sisters really remember my birthday.... Its all Joe!

When I saw this on the A Bunch of Wabash space, administrated tenderly by my youngest sister, it all rang true!!! She and my other sis Anjali have been crazy for Joe Dumars since I can remember him playing for the Pistons.

The interesting thing about the guy is his vast knowledgebase. He's a very atypical sports figure in that respect. One could talk to him on a lot of topics and he has the background to be able to effectively analyze and communicate an often riveting opinion.

John Salley was like that too. I have met him and I used to watch his TV show on BET. He can really lead a nice challenging discussion on a fairly controversial topic. Guys who can play, have skillz and have intellectual depth... oh yeah!!! You Pistons can come on over to Microsoft anytime you'd like....  I guess the bottom line is -- Pistons rule!!!

Happy Birthday, Joe. For years I thought you'd end up being a member of my family. Now I know you always have been and always will be.

    Go Detroit!!!

    Hey Detroit NBA fans ...

    Today is Joe Dumars’ birthday!!!!!!!!

Please take a moment today to celebrate this wonderful, wonderful man.  Ain’t nobody that don’t respect Joe Dumars (said in the voice of Donkey/Eddie Murphy from Shrek).

Love this – love the idea of a Joe statue.  Only problem, I might get arrested for hugging it incessantly:

    Sleepy in Seattle

    Actually, Redmond.

Its been a whirlwind since last weekend's amazing recital with Teja, to celebrating the 10th anniversary since i broke my 2nd World Record (woo-hoo!) to plopping back down to the grindstone here as a Microserf. I love it. The toggling is making me airsick (couldn't get seasick from flying), but the homesickness has been sufficiently averted. So now I am reading Rj Pineiro's Shutdown which is awesome and eerie, in terms of how technologically dependent our societies and our lives really have become, and from the perspective of what could happen to grind the whole world to a halt. I guess I read these semi-apocalyptic-techno-thrillers because its my way of crunching data to formulate street-smart disaster recovery mechanisms in my life. Adopt the right concepts and you can always have a game plan. Don't think about it at all and risk getting slammed someday... and feeling lost.

So, ok... you want to know what I am doing for my b'day. I am happy to report that my hotel suite in Redmond is bigger than my apartment, so I am hanging out in it. I already hung out at work, pretty early in the morning, watching genius after genius shuffle into the serfdom. What I love about working at Microsoft is the collective motivation that brought each of us here... that is, to change the world. World-changing completed, I thought I'd head over to this tiny 1/2 price bookstore I found, then over to Borders. The nerd in me wants more knowledge... and that's what I plan to obtain. Then I thought I'd head over for a massage. I do feel pulled in the direction of the Space Needle, which I hear is flanked by the Experience Music Project and the Sci-Fi museum. OK yeah it sounds like a hotter idea than the massage and the books, but I am also feeling lazy. I don't know.

But that's the best part of the plan. It can change, as we do. Now that I think of it... I am just plain sleepy. So maybe that's my birthday party... I can have it in my dreams.

Thank you, every single one of you who called or wrote. You kept me busy all day and made me feel very important and I cherish each of you so much.

    No more highlights

So, sisters who are tracking my hair color from month-to-month, please note: It was time again. I am the dark-haired one again. At least for a few months until arangetram season finishes. So no more Helen.

Smile... Tiasha, you know you asked for it.
